Healing Valle Spa & Residence is a conceptual wellness environment inspired by the relationship between landscape, craft, and restoration. Designed as a holistic Appalachian retreat supporting individuals living with Multiple Sclerosis, the project explores how regional material traditions and textile influences can be translated into a modern hospitality experience. Through layered lighting, tactile materials, and intentional spatial planning, the design prioritizes comfort, accessibility, and emotional connection, creating a space that encourages slowing down, reflection, and renewal.

The material language of the project draws inspiration from Appalachian resourcefulness and craft traditions. Generations of makers transformed limited materials into meaningful, lasting objects, an approach that continues to influence my design perspective. Memories of watching my grandmother save and repurpose textile remnants into quilted patchwork blankets shaped my understanding of reuse, redesign, and upcycling as both practical and creative acts. Healing Valle reflects this philosophy through layered materials, thoughtful reuse concepts, and a design approach rooted in tradition while interpreted through a contemporary lens.

The project is conceptually situated in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, a place whose cultural history and craftsmanship informed the vision for the retreat. Familiarity with the region provided insight into how the spa could feel authentically connected to its surroundings while offering a restorative and modern wellness experience.
