Hi! Im Kristie Butcher!

I am an interior designer based in North Carolina’s Piedmont region with roots that run deep into Appalachia.  I am  drawn to ideas that live outside the every day. My work explores imaginative concepts and unconventional solutions, creating spaces that feel expressive, thoughtful, and distinctly individual.

My connection to design and fabrication began long before I knew I was "designing". As a child, I learned to sew sitting beneath my grandmother’s sewing machine while she mended and sewed.  My Granny Boo introduced me to textiles, craftsmanship, and the simple act of creating something with care and intention. That early experience shaped how I see design today, not just as materials but as stories, history, culture, and possibility.  My creative abilities keep me tethered to the memories of people that loved me enough to teach me.

This foundation continues to guide my work and values as a designer. After spending twenty years in fashion and fashion merchandising fields, I am deeply interested in reducing pre and  post-consumer waste within both the fashion and interiors industries.  Seeing the rampant waste of industry,  I believe that thoughtful design should consider not only how something looks or functions, but how it exists responsibly in the world. Sustainability is important to me , and  is rooted in respect for materials, our natural environment, and designing with longevity and purpose.  I am drawn to ideas others might hesitate to pursue, believing that meaningful design happens when imagination is given room to lead and creativity is guided with good intentions.

I want to live a life full of creativity and inspire others to step outside their comfort zones and try something new. I hope I inspire others to connect to their designs in ways that feel personal, intentional, and unapologetically their own. I want others to be inspired by my willingness to design outside the box, and to recognize the quiet confidence that comes from knowing you’ve done good work without needing someone else to validate it. In a world driven by online-everything and influencer culture, individuality feels like it’s on life support. My goal is to push against that; to create work that feels original, honest, and grounded in something real, not just what’s trending. I use my designs to be unappolegetically orginal!
