Kristie in SandDiego

Hi! Im Kristie Butcher!

My connection to design and fabrication began long before I knew I was "designing". As a child, I learned to sew sitting beneath my grandmother’s sewing machine while she mended and sewed.  My Granny Boo introduced me to textiles, craftsmanship, and the simple act of creating something with care and intention. That early experience shaped how I see design today, not just as materials but as stories, history, and possibility.

This foundation continues to guide my work and values as a designer. I am deeply interested in reducing post-consumer waste within both the fashion and interiors industries.   I believe that thoughtful design should consider not only how something looks or functions, but how it exists responsibly in the world. Sustainability, to me, is rooted in respect for materials, our natural environment, and designing with longevity and purpose.  I am drawn to ideas others might hesitate to pursue, believing that meaningful design happens when imagination is given room to lead and creativity is guided with intention.
